Will Win: Philomena Should Win: 12 Years A Slave Surprise Win: Before Midnight Boy, Harvey Weinstein can't be too happy this year! He's got very little stake this year, with only Philomena (US Distribution), August: Osage Country and Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom to his name, and each of them getting very little recognition. This year there's no chance that Weinstein's going to go home with a major award... except for the Screenplay Oscar. He's going to push 'the little film that could' with all his might. And for sheer marketing muscle, Philomena will take Adapted Screenplay. Which means 12 Years A Slave won't be winning this particular major award. Even if it pulls off Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Editing and Best Director, there's no way it's going to win this. Which is a shame, because it's a fantastic adaptation of the the original text. However, Richard Linklater's 'Before' trilogy is one of the cinema's greatest trilogies, and much like 'Her', it may just take home the prize. But it's unlikely, as this category is a two-horse race, which one of those horse having a huge advantage.
