8. Minor Awards Winners Find Ways Around The Time-Limit
While the likes of Matthew McConaughey get as much time as they'd like to wax lyrical about themselves, recipients of more minor awards (anything up to the prominence of Screenwriting in fact) have only a short period to thank everyone they can before they start getting played off. This has led to some pretty awkward moments in recent years, most memorably the Jaws theme interrupting Life Of Pi's special effects team as they tried to enlighten everyone of their company's closure. This year, however, the winners of more 'minor' awards fought back, making for some delightful, if slightly awkward, moments. Of course, Pawe Pawlikowski's beating of the orchestra after Ida won Best Foreign Language Film was later revealed to be part of a big, show-defining joke, but he wasn't the only one to halt the play-off; the very mention of suicide caused the swelling score to cut off just a couple of awards later.
