9. Jack Black (For Some Reason)
2014 wasn't Jack Black's year, with a cameo in Sex Tape his only big screen appearance. Which only made his literally show-stopping turn in the opening musical number all the more surprising. After a hilarious and heartfelt duet from Harris and Anna Kendrick, an irate Black jumped in with a lengthy rant about the state of modern cinema, putting a big focus on the prominence of tentpole blockbuster movies. It was a nice little admittance of how the business side can often interfere with the magic of movies, made all the better by coming from a totally unexpected source (although as he's got singing history, it shouldn't have been a total shock). There was some potency to the points he was making, but, still, it's hard to not think Black could have just been raving in reaction to his dwindling star status in recent years.
