Oscars 2015: 10 Outrageous Decisions That Are Completely Wrong

2. The LEGO Movie - No Animated Feature

In arguably the biggest shock of the nominations ceremony, the glorious, utterly charming LEGO movie was ignored entirely, pushed out of the Best Animated Film category by left-field choices Song Of The Sea and The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya, and deemed inferior to How To Train Your Dragon 2 (it's not). There's no arguing the merit of a broader reach, and the inclusion of those two is not a bad thing by any means, but the LEGO movie was arguably the most entertaining, smartest and best animated movies of the year. The same snub meant that The Book Of Life also missed out, which is also something of a travesty, but not on the same scale as LEGO-gate as surely nobody will be calling it very soon. Phil Lord has already played down the decision, but there's no place for humbleness in the face of such wanton silliness. Why It Went Wrong... Some have already suggested that it might be because of the live action sequence at the end of the movie, but surely the Academy wouldn't be that stoic about technicalities? Don't bet on it.
