Oscars 2016: 10 Potential Shocking Upsets

1. Leo Doesn€™t Win Best Actor

Come on, guys. Cut this guy some slack. If the Academy doesn€™t finally reward Leonardo DiCaprio for his stellar acting chops, he might genuinely let a bear bum him next year. Is that what they want? He€™s pushed himself further than ever before as the star of The Revenant, deconstructing pelt-collector Hugh Glass to shambling mess over 156 torturous minutes, and now€™s surely the time for him to collect a gold statue. There€™s no doubt that, if he doesn€™t win, the reaction would consist of utter outrage and vitriol towards the Academy. That, and a lot of memes featuring Leo€™s disappointed face. And more naff bear jokes. Worryingly, though, it€™s not like he€™s running unopposed here. As mentioned earlier, some voters might plump for Eddie Redmayne due the double whammy of an eye-catching performance and residual love from last year. Bryan Cranston€™s turn as blacklisted 1940s screenwriter Dalton Trumbo has received plenty of praise, too, and the Oscars always love films about showbiz. Regardless, it has to be Leo€™s year. Can you imagine the response if Matt Damon won for The Martian? Or Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs? Or literally any one else? Sizeable excrement would hit a heavy duty fan. Let€™s just hope the Academy make the right choices, so we don't have to go through all that. They€™ve never got it wrong in the past, right? Which of these possibilties do you think is most likely?
