Oscars 2016: 20 Biggest Best Film Contenders

7. Inside Out

No animated film has ever won the Oscar for Best Picture. Two Pixar films have been nominated €“ Up in 2010 and Toy Story 3 in 2011 €“ but the most successful animation studio of all time has thus far failed to produce an Academy Award winner. Inside Out, lauded almost universally as amongst Pixar's best films, could be the film to finally change that. It's an enormously entertaining romp of a comedy, with remarkable intelligence and deeply resonant emotional beats. There's no doubt as to whether Inside Out is going to win Best Animated Feature, but the question is whether it can boldly go where no animated film has gone before. If the film can scoop a few extra nominations, potentially for director and screenplay, then it stands a more than decent chance of at least making the shortlist for Best Picture.
