Oscars 2016: 8 Biggest Mistakes The Academy Made

6. Best Supporting Actress

Who Won? Alicia Vikander - The Danish Girl Wait, what? The Danish Girl is an Oscar winning movie? THE DANISH GIRL?! OH COME ON! Alicia Vikander is admittedly the best thing in the movie, but that is like saying Michael B. Jordan is the best thing in Fant4stic. The movie is a boring artistic splurge from a director so up his own arse that he kills his own actors by nature of his own tunnel-vision. If anything, Vikaner's win is a miracle because she was working with Tom Hooper. Who Should Have Won? Rooney Mara I genuinely thought Kate Winslet was going to bag her second golden baldie for Steve Jobs, although even then I'd have said it was undeserved. Supporting Actress was a strong category this year (hence Winslet and Vikander both being worthless), but my far the most deserving of the win was Rooney Mara for Carol. Despite not being the titular character she carried that film, with her emotionally restrained Terese defining the events. She co-won Best Actress in Cannes and a loss here is a major tragedy.
