Oscars 2016: 8 Biggest Mistakes The Academy Made

1. Best Picture

Who Won? Spotlight Spotlight is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. My review of it was an argument why it should be an Oscar favourite. Although the key work is favourite. Spotlight is masterfully acted with restrained direction and a careful understanding of its tricky subject, and is something that will no doubt sit alongside All The President's Men As one of the greatest journalistic thrillers of all time. But Best Film?! Gimmie a break. What Should Have Won? Mad Max: Fury Road Discounting the movies not nominated that should have won (Inside Out and Carol), Best Picture should have gone to one of Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant. And, as much as I love Iñárritu's movie, even if he'd won Best Picture I'd be saying the award should have gone to Mad Max. Fury Road is a seminal action picture that develops its characters through car chases and violent clashes as much as it does dialogue, and I think the six technical Oscars it won (despite maybe not deserving one of them) are testament to that. What do you think the biggest mistakes of the 88th Academy Awards were? Are we on the money or were all these awards deserved? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
