It's not been officially confirmed yet, but it's rumoured that the Academy will go back to listing just five Best Picture nominees this year (having raised the higher limit to 10 films back in 2009). In their shoes, we'd want a list of ten to try and squeeze in all of the excellent films from the last year. Either way, it's a tough call. Would you give Miller and Iñárritu a big award each to try and seem fair, or give Best Director and Best Picture to both in a bid to appear consistent? Alternatively, the Academy could swerve both of them and make Inside Out the first animated flick to win Best Picture. Personally, I think it could be another success for Iñárritu, because - while Fury Road is a stunning visual and technical achievement - The Revenant seems to have more story.
