The Foreign-Language category is always a bit of a ball-ache as the restrictive Academy qualifiers (a film must play for at least a week in LA) mean many much-hyped movies get minimal focus in the awards. This years big misses are The Assassin (rightfully so - it's drab storytelling) and Our Little Sister (which really should be in here).

Although victory for Son Of Saul will likely to be chalked up to it being a Holocaust picture, it's actually an incredibly deserving movie, looking at the tragedy from a new angle (literally - the cinematography is off the charts) and providing some startling new insight. The only other one that stands a chance is A War.
