Oscars 2016: Predicting All The Winners
15. Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role
The Nominees: Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Rooney Mara (Carol), Rachel McAdams (Spotlight), Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl), Kate Winslest (Steve Jobs)
Who Will Win? Rooney Mara (Carol)
Who Should Win? Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight)
Compared to its male counterpart, there's no shortage of deserving performances for Supporting Actress this year (which makes a very exciting change) although means several great turns - surely Alicia Vikander was better in Ex Machina - have missed out on awards recognition. Also, anybody else surprised by McAdams inclusion?
Rooney Mara delivered the best performance out of any actress here, her Terese being a subtle showcase of early love and hidden desires, and so definitely deserves to take home an Oscar (she won Best Actress at Cannes), but I can't fully endorse her in this category (I'll get to that later). Taking that into account, it really should be Jennifer Jason Leigh, who played the most hateful of the eight, who goes home lucky.
