Oscars 2017 Nominations: 5 Things They Got Right (& 4 They Got Wrong)

2. La La Land Leading The Way

As mentioned previously, La La Land was expected to get a lot of nominations here. What is surprising is just how many it received.

14!

That ties the record for most nominations ever, putting it alongside All About Eve (which went on to win 6), and Titanic (which went on to win a record-equalling 11). And looking at the categories it's nominated in, a couple of things come to mind.

Firstly, they're all very much deserved - even the two noms in Original Song. The film is utterly beautiful and magical, and deserves every bit of recognition it gets. Secondly, there's a serious chance it could break the record for most wins.

Obviously it'll lose out on one of the Song noms, and Ryan Gosling - barring a HUGE upset - won't win Best Actor. Apart from that, though, it's either the favourite or at least serious contender in every other category, which means we could be looking at La La Land: winner of 12 Academy Awards. Wow.
