Oscars 2017: Predicting All The Nominees
1. Best Motion Picture Of The Year
When predicting the nominees for this category, half the battle is judging just how many films are even going to be nominated. Since expanding the field, we've had 10 films nominated twice, 9 films nominated three times, and then the last two years have seen eight films receive a nod.
Looking at the movies, I think they'll continue the trend of 8. It's a good chance to reward a nice mix of films, and there are some outsiders here - Jackie, Silence, and more shockingly Deadpool (which somehow has a genuine chance, not something I ever expected to write) - that might not get quite enough love to expand the list. If it does stretch to nine, then Hidden Figures looks well-placed to get in the mix as well, since it's picked up a lot of buzz in the final stretch. As for winner, it's setup for La La Land v Moonlight, and current form favours the former.
