Oscars 2019: 10 Reasons Why A Star Is Born Is Definitely Not Best Film
4. Jack's Kinda Of A Jackass
Jack's turmoil with his inner demons provide a clear narrative from the opening credits. What's not so apparent is why he's such a Jekel and Hyde character that vacillates between being the doting boyfriend/husband to the guy that pisses himself on live TV. In fact, not since Kanye Kardashian ruined Taylor Swift’s big moment has an awards event been tarnished this bad.
Obviously, Bradley Cooper's appeal as a silver screen heartthrob easily transfers into his characterization of Jack; but just because he opens some doors for Ally and doesn't attack his fans for taking his picture at the grocery store doesn't absolve him for all his other self-destructive, boorish behavior.
As for the sibling beef with his older brother, Jack punches Bobby for selling the old man's ranch, even though Jack had been told about it but was too hammered to remember. If anyone should be punched in the kisser, it's Jack for stealing his brother's manly man voice that not only makes hit records but could probably also earn a fortune doing commercial voice over work.
