3. It's A Downer

Life is already depressing enough -- so it's not exactly a pleasurable joyride having to endure one too many un-likeable characters, constant bickering and unwanted surprises. As aforementioned, Jack can be a real pain in the ass -- but just when you think he can't get any worse, the troubled troubadour goes for an encore. And remember, you've already been warned: Jack dangles in the end.

Moreover, the most egregious aspect of Jack's suicide isn't the act itself, but rather that it's portrayed as a noble gesture, in which he sacrifices his life so that Ally can pursue her own dreams. Seriously, dude? The man just needed a good shrink (and possibly a new liver), but asserting that death was his only option is both irresponsible and absurd.

Another character that needs to tone down his Jerk-O-Meter is Rez (Rufi Gavron) in the role of Ally's controlling record producer/manager. And what's with not wearing socks? Or hidden socks? Who the hell is that proud of their ankles? Regardless, it's just another annoying trait of this insufferable, pint-sized brat who needs a good ass-kicking.
