Oscars 2019: 16 WTF Moments
8. Stan Lee's Dedication Gets Cut Off
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won a much-deserved Best Animated Film Oscar, but many fans were left miffed by the lack of a dedication to Marvel legend Stan Lee, who of course passed away late last year.
Unfortunately, the show's producers decided to kill the mic before co-director Bob Persichetti could get a word in, and according to his fellow director Chris Miller, this is what he planned to say:
"And finally thank you Stan Lee and Steve Ditko for inspiring all of this and believing we all have the capacity to be heroes."
Between the tribute to Lee in the movie and his touching presence in the Oscars' In Memoriam segment, it's safe to say that Lee was duly honoured. But even so, it was a damn shame the show's producers decided to kill what could've been a supremely affecting tribute.
