Oscars 2019: Predicting All The Nominees
16. Actress In A Supporting Role

A close race, and an intriguing one. The Favourite has two big chances at success here with Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, while Vice's Amy Adams has proved popular too. Those three have been nominated by most of the major awarding bodies so far, indicating they're locked in here. It's after that it opens up a little bit.
If Beale Street Could Talk's Regina King won at the Critics' Choice and Golden Globes, but then has been overlooked completely by BAFTA and SAG. Claire Foy, Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman, and Emily Blunt have all picked up nods at various points across awards season, so it'll come down to two from those four. Beale Street should play well with the Academy, boosting King's chances here, while it'd be great to see Claire Foy sneak in for the largely overlooked First Man. Thomasin McKenzie also deserves mention for her stunning breakthrough in Leave No Trace, but there's also next to no chance of her being nominated, sadly.
Nominees:
Amy Adams (Vice)
Claire Foy (First Man)
Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk)
Emma Stone (The Favourite)
Rachel Weisz (The Favourite)
