Oscars 2019: Predicting The 10 Best Popular Films Nominees

To many, Ryan Coogler's Black Panther seemed to be a near shoe-in for getting a Best Picture nomination.

However, with this new category, viewers can kiss that dream goodbye. In the process of creating this category, allegedly because they're looking to shine more light on successful films that audiences see, the Academy has actually grossly shorted the very films and viewers they're looking to praise.

Now, instead of Ryan Coogler's film being nominated for Best Picture, it'll get nominated for this discounted version of it, and be shut out of the real deal. Critics and audiences alike adored this film. It's one of the highest grossing films of all time, one of the best-reviewed blockbusters of the last decade, and has had the kind of cultural significance and impact that the Oscars regularly like to honor.

And yet, with the creation of this category, the Academy will be cutting off its chances. Coogler's film is clearly deserving of nominations and is the safest bet on this whole list to be nominated in this category.

But it will forever be huanted by the knowledge that it deserved more.
