Oscars 2020: 10 Ups & 6 Downs

The greatest Oscar night in years.

And like that, the insane circus that is Oscar season is over for another year. The 92nd Academy Awards have transpired from Hollywood's lush Dolby Theatre, and it was without question one of the most interesting and satisfying ceremonies in recent Oscar history.

On paper, this year's show was primed to be one of the most predictable on record, and though the majority of the winners were as expected, a few well-placed surprises in the top-tier categories will ensure that few forget this year's broadcast.

From long-deserving actors finally winning their Oscars to left-field talents getting over-the-odds love from the Academy, it was a great night for Hollywood, and a genuine challenge (for the most part) to those who insist that the Oscars doesn't reflect contemporary taste.

There's still a lot to be done when it comes to representation, for sure, but the night as a whole felt like a step in the right direction for an organisation whose relevance has been undeniably threatened in recent years...
