Oscars 2020: Predicting The Winners In Every Category
Prepare for a predictable night.
The Academy Awards are mere days away from taking place, serving as the final stop on the annual half-year of madness that is awards season.
Somewhat mercifully, this has been one of the shortest Oscar calendars in history, with the ceremony being moved up to the beginning of February, and in turn forcing several major precursors to push their own shows forward.
If our predictions are correct, then this is likely to be an extremely predictable and foregone awards night, and while the majority of the nominees will be thoroughly deserving of their wins, there's not likely to be much in the way of pleasant surprises or expectation-defying shocks.
It's always great to be wrong about this, of course, but as much as so many film fans would love a last-minute surge for Parasite in the top awards categories, it all seems pretty obviously sewn up.
Nothing's ever certain until it's certain, though, so hopefully the Academy might spring for some more adventurous and left-field choices than what seems to be on the cards...
