Oscars 2021: 10 Actors Likely To Get Their First Oscar Nomination This Year
4. Delroy Lindo - Da 5 Bloods
Da 5 Bloods feels like it aired a long time ago and it is a fair question to ask if the film managed to resonate strongly enough to carry it into some nominations, but one enduring quality that is still mentioned seven months after it first dropped on Netflix is the captivating performance from Delroy Lindo.
Da 5 Bloods is a messy film, it starts off strongly before devolving considerably in its second half into a poor illogical action film. Lindo however, is phenomenal throughout. After returning to Vietnam with his former comrades to find the body of his fallen squad leader and the hidden treasure they buried with him, Lindo's character starts to aggressively lose his mind. It is completely unhinged but easily the best thing in the film.
The Academy loves to reward films about madness, look at last year's Joker, and Lindo is a veteran actor who is very much due a nomination. Overall, he does feel like more of a supporting presence than a leading man but that doesn't seem to be slowing him down and a nomination is highly probable at this point.
