Oscars 2021: Final Predictions In All 23 Categories
1. Best Picture
The safe choice is probably going to turn out to be the correct one. Features such as Mank, Judas and the Black Messiah and Sound of Metal haven't got a chance here. The Father may be the best emotional experience of the year, but it is too small scale for Best Picture. Trial of the Chicago 7's star has been fading excessively over the season but it is still a popular crowd pleaser of a film.
If anything is going to feasibly upset the frontrunner it'll be Minari which is receiving some eleventh hour rumblings. Minari is a warm and un-divisive film that will benefit from the preferential ballot system that is used in deciding Best Picture.
Still, Nomadland has not faced the same amount of backlash that Best Picture frontrunners usually receive by this point and the film is coming on strong for a decisive win.
Either way, in a decade's time, when people look back at the crop of films released this year, they will say that Promising Young Woman was the best and most important film of the year and will be talked about far more than any other movie on this list in the future. You can bet on that.
What Should Win: Promising Young Woman
What Will Win: Nomadland
