Oscars 2021: Final Predictions In All 23 Categories
15. Best Song
A tricky category that has become harder to call as the race has gone on. When Eurovision Song Contest debuted on Netflix, it didn't seem like an Oscar winning song was amongst the soundtrack, but as time has gone on, there has been growing support for Husavik which has turned the track into the dark horse of the race.
Io Si (Seen) from The Life Ahead was the early frontrunner but the film has underperformed throughout the season failing to gain any traction for star Sophia Loren and wasn't even nominated for Best International Feature. This means the support for the film is clearly lacking.
Enter One Night in Miami's Speak Now written and performed by star Leslie Odom Jr. who is still the smart money choice with a powerful song about change. Unfortunately for Odom Jr., his fellow nominees may cause a vote split as Trial of the Chicago 7 and Judas and the Black Messiah both have activist songs about fighting for change nominated also.
Add that to the fact that they're all played over their respective films' credits whereas Husavik is a key and central part of Eurovision's narrative and there is a strong chance that Eurovision Song Contest could become an Oscar winning film.
