3. Trial Of The Chicago 7

One of the best script of the year is classic Aaron Sorkin with lightning fast dialogue and richly drawn characters that represent some of the legendary screenwriter's best work. Trial of the Chicago 7 follows the eponymous trial after a collection of individuals are accused and prosecuted for conspiracy and inciting a riot after protesting the Vietnam war.

High in drama but also often hilarious, Trial manages to be an exciting piece of cinema that moves fast and nails the emotions it is going for. Sorkin's adept skill at giving so many characters development and layers is incredibly impressive and should not be overlooked.

Some may accuse Trial of being a little soft on the edges and lacking punch when compared to its fellow nominees. In actuality, Trial of the Chicago 7 is the only truly energetic film of the year which strives to be uplifting and inspirational.

With phenomenal performances throughout from an Oscar nominated Sacha Baron Cohen along with the equally good Mark Rylance, Yahya Abdul Matteen II, Frank Langella, Eddie Redmayne and more, Trial has the best ensemble of the year and provides the most enjoyment out of all the nominees.
