Oscars 2021: Who Should Win Every Award (And Who Actually Will)

7. Best Original Song

Oscars 2021 Anthony Hopkins Chadwick Boseman
Amazon Studios

Nominees

"Fight for You" from Judas and the Black Messiah

"Hear My Voice" from The Trial of the Chicago 7

"Husavik" from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

"lo Sì (Seen)" from The Life Ahead

"Speak Now" from One Night in Miami

Who Should Win: Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

Look, Best Original Song is such a stuffy, stodgy category generally filled wall-to-wall with crusty ballads and mediocre pop songs, so it's fun to see something lampooning that get nominated. The kicker, of course, is that "Husavik" also happens to be a catchy ditty in its own right.

Who Will Win: One Night in Miami

Easily the best Serious song nominated is One Night in Miami's "Speak Now," and it gets a considerable boost from the fact that it's written by one of the film's actors, Oscar nominee Leslie Odom Jr.

While it's possible Academy voters put Diane Warren out of her misery and finally give her an Oscar win after 12 nominations (for "lo Sì (Seen")), it's really far from the best song in the group.

All this said, a win for Eurovision Song Contest would be absolutely hysterical.
