14. Jessie Buckley - The Lost Daughter

Had there been any justice in the world, Jessie Buckley would've received a Best Actress nomination earlier this year for her mesmerising performance in I'm Thinking of Ending Things, but them's the brakes.

Oscar voters have a chance to redeem themselves, though, by rewarding Buckley for her wildly raved-about performance as the younger version of Olivia Colman's protagonist Leda Caruso in Maggie Gyllenhaal's fierce directorial debut The Lost Daughter.

Buckley is a fave among audiences and critics alike, so this one's an easy sell. As the current standings go, Buckley's a strong contender to make the cut for a Best Supporting Actress nomination, and unless something truly tectonic comes along, her place feels pretty damn secure for the long haul.
