Oscars 2022: All 20 Actors Who Could Get Their First Oscar Nomination

Though the overwhelming majority of the attention for Spencer is understandably being directed towards Kristen Stewart and her portrayal of Princess Diana - which we'll get to later - it's important not to forget about the supporting cast.

Timothy Spall is another one of those actors you probably assumed already had at least an Oscar nomination or two, and though he very nearly made the cut a few years ago in Mr. Turner, he's still never been recognised by the Academy.

Oscar voters may well feel that Spall is overdue a nod, then, for his performance as the Royal chief of staff Alistair Gregory.

Spall's turn has been widely praised, and though he's not right at the top of the contenders' pack, voters may feel this is "his year" to be singled out in the Best Supporting Actor field.
