Oscars 2022: Final Predictions In Every Category

7. Best Adapted Screenplay

Dune Power of the Dog Tammy Faye
Netflix

NOMINEES:

CODA (Sian Heder)

Drive My Car (Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Takamasa Oe)

Dune (Eric Roth, Jon Spaihts, Denis Villeneuve)

The Lost Daughter (Maggie Gyllenhaal)

The Power of the Dog (Jane Campion)

Who Should Win: The Power of the Dog (Jane Campion)

A tight category where every nominated film would be a solid winner, though Jane Campion's restrained work bringing Thomas Savage's novel to the big screen is easily the best.

Who Will Win: The Power of the Dog (Jane Campion)

Though CODA won the WGA award for Adapted Screenplay, it's important to remember that The Power of the Dog wasn't eligible for that award.

Given how lushly it translates the literary to the cinematic, it feels like a dead-cert winner, especially with Dune being half of an unfinished story.
