Oscars 2022: Final Predictions In Every Category
3. Best Actress
NOMINEES:
Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye)
Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter)
Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers)
Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos)
Kristen Stewart (Spencer)
Who Should Win: Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter)
If we're looking for a high-caliber performance in an equally great movie, then nothing really tops Olivia Colman's soul-shattering work in The Lost Daughter.
Colman commands the screen in every single scene and does magnificent work with a tricky, challenging role. Kristen Stewart isn't too far behind for Spencer, though.
Who Will Win: Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye)
The Best Actress race has been absolute, unpredictable chaos this year - for many months it seemed like Kristen Stewart was an unseatable frontrunner, and then she almost ended up missing out on a nomination entirely.
Then Nicole Kidman inexplicably raced to the front of the pack, before Jessica Chastain pulled into pole position with her SAG and Critics Choice Awards wins, both of which serve as notable Oscar precursors.
This, combined with the narrative that Chastain is "overdue" the win - everyone else but Stewart already has an Oscar - should serve her well here.
