5. The Banshees Of Inisherin & Tár Get Completely Shut Out
Though this year's Oscars was jam-packed with satisfying results, it was also a night which bucked the more recent trend of spreading the major awards among a larger pool of nominees, with the eventual Best Picture winner typically taking home only a few gongs.
The unfortunate flip-side of Everything Everywhere All at Once performing an Oscar sweep and scooping seven awards is that some extremely deserving films went home empty-handed.
For one, The Banshees of Inisherin, which spent at least a month or two of Oscar season as the hot favourite to win Best Picture, was totally shut out, and in the interest of sharing the wealth should've at least taken home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Kerry Condon.
And then there's Todd Field's sublime Tár, which despite receiving six nominations in major categories went away with zilch, as well as Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans - an early awards season favourite to win Best Picture which totally flamed out and won nothing.
If a movie's going to sweep, you want it to be something as brilliant and innovative as Everything Everywhere All at Once, but all the same, that these movies got no gold at all is a damn shame.
