There's so much great work to consider here, but Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert did something truly ground-breaking and innovative that was totally unlike the other four nominees.

Going from making a movie about Daniel Radcliffe's farting corpse to winning the Best Director Oscar is quite the career pipeline indeed.

This is another two-horse race, for sure. Splitting Best Director/Best Picture honours has proven far more common in recent years, and many will be throwing a passion vote behind Steven Spielberg, but the stats are absolutely on Daniels' side.

Daniels recently scooped the DGA, which has historically been an incredibly reliable predictor for the Oscar, so there's little reason to doubt them repeating.
