Oscars 2024: 20 Insanely Early Predictions
18. Maestro Receives The Most Nominations
The movies which receive the most Oscar nominations tend to be those which excel in both above-the-line and below-the-line categories - this past year it was Everything Everywhere All At Once with 11 nods, followed closely by All Quiet on the Western Front and The Banshees of Inisherin, which received nine a-piece.
While there's absolutely no doubt that films like Killers of the Flower Moon and Dune: Part Two will probably end up securing a shedload of nominations each, there's one movie which could outdo them - Bradley Cooper's Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro.
First and foremost, the Academy clearly loves nominating Cooper across the board - he has a stonking nine nominations to his name as actor, producer, and writer, and there's a strong chance he'll add director to it next year.
If the movie meets expectations, expect nods for Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress (Carey Mulligan), Original Screenplay, Production Design, Costume Design, Film Editing, and Makeup and Hairstyling, while Cinematography, Sound, and Original Song are absolutely in play also.
