Oscars: A Look Back At The Films Of 2003

Best Director - Peter Jackson (The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King)

Ten Years Ago: Peter Jackson won for The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King. He beat out Sofia Coppola for Lost In Translation, Clint Eastwood for Mystic River, Fernando Meirelles for City Of God, and Peter Weller for Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World. Now: I'll start by saying that Peter Jackson easily wins again. This was an award honoring his near ten year commitment to the once thought unfilmable trilogy he turned into the most honored trilogy in history. He wins again but there is a big change concerning the nominees. Peter Weir does not get nominated now. I'm sorry, Master & Commander is a fine movie but Chan-Wook Park gets nominated for Oldboy. In fact, there's a lot more that happens now with regards to Oldboy and the status Park has now achieved in the film community is because of that insanely brilliant film.

I'm married and live in New York with my wife and pets. I'm a writer and definitely not a comedian (just ask my wife). I've successfully linked my twitter, goodreads, facebook and google+ pages although the successful aspect of all that is up for debate. I also started my own blog on wordpress and have just finished my first novel, The Violent Winds. Now it's time to try and trick some unsuspecting fool into buying it.
