Oscars Nominations 2022: 8 Ups & 9 Downs
1. Diane Warren Gets ANOTHER Unearned Nomination
As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, you can count on Diane Warren receiving her near-annual Oscar nomination for a film most people have never even heard of.
This year the legendary songwriter banked her 13th nomination, currently without a win, for the Mila Kunis-Glenn Close addiction drama Four Good Days, which quietly received a qualifying theatrical run last April amid received mediocre reviews.
Of course it's the song that matters in this case, yet few are likely to be swayed that this is anything more than another forgettable Warren tune that ends up nominated primarily because she's a pillar of the industry and her friends will reliably always vote for her.
At this point the Academy should just give her the damn gong so we can all move on from this yearly farce and let a more worthy nominee take her place.
With Warren going up against Beyonce (King Richard), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Encanto), Van Morrison (Belfast), and Billie Eilish (No Time to Die), though, she basically doesn't stand a chance.
Now that we've got all the complaining out of the way, here's what this year's Oscar nominations actually got right...
