Oscars Nominations 2022: 8 Ups & 9 Downs
6. Surprise: Jessie Buckley (Best Supporting Actress)
While there were a few disappointments in the Best Supporting Actress field with CaitrĂona Balfe and Ruth Negga both missing out, the trade-off was that Jessie Buckley received a somewhat surprising nomination for her superb performance in The Lost Daughter.
It's fitting that Buckley and co-star Olivia Colman, who play younger and older versions of protagonist Leda, each received nominations for their performances, given the massive dramatic heft each contributes to the unforgettable character drama.
After Buckley was snubbed by the Academy for her superb turn in I'm Thinking of Ending Things last year, this felt like well-earned recompense.
