Oscars Nominations 2022: 8 Ups & 9 Downs

4. Surprise: Jesse Plemons (Best Supporting Actor)

Though Jesse Plemons received his fair share of acclaim for his strong performance in The Power of the Dog, he was definitely the least buzzed-about of the four central cast members, and so many assumed he'd miss out on a Best Supporting Actor nomination.

In the end Plemons managed to fend off Bradley Cooper (Licorice Pizza) and Jamie Dornan (Belfast) for the nod, ensuring that all four central cast members were nominated in their respective categories.

Better still, Plemons was nominated alongside his co-star and real-life spouse Kirsten Dunst, who picked up a well-earned Best Supporting Actress nomination. Ain't that sweet?
