Oscars Nominations 2022: 8 Ups & 9 Downs

1. Surprise: The Worst Person In The World (Best Original Screenplay)

Were it not for the over-the-odds success of Drive My Car, it'd be easy to earmark Joachim Trier's fantastic dark comedy The Worst Person in the World as the frontrunner for the Best International Film Oscar.

It's a wonderful film, and one that also managed to break out of that singular category by scoring a much-deserved Best Original Screenplay nod for Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier.

It's a shame that stars Renate Reinsve and Anders Danielsen Lie didn't also crack their respective acting categories, but it was still a pleasant surprise to see the film scoop a second nod at all.
