Outlaw King Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs
2. The Excellent Supporting Cast
Outlaw King is blessed with an exceptional supporting cast who do splendid work alongside Pine and Taylor-Johnson.
Especially note-worthy is the always wonderful rising star Florence Pugh, turning in another impressive performance as the strong-willed Elizabeth de Burgh, while Game of Thrones alums James Cosmo and Stephen Dillane do fine work as Bruce's father and Edward I respectively.
Elsewhere Billy Howle is also a hoot as Edward II, and though his character as written does begin to flirt with cartoonishness at times, it does seem like an apt realisation of the man's eventual status as a lazy, buffoonish King.
From the prime supporting roles to the smallest bit parts, though, everyone's doing fine work here.
