5. Turbulence
Because not all insane movies can be good, we have Turbulence.
No, this isn't a remake of the infamous 1997 airborne thriller of the same name, but an entry into the ever-popular "confined thriller" subgenre, where a familiar scenario gets a welcome shake-up by taking place inside a claustrophobic and unexpected locale.
This time around a couple, played by Hera Hilmar and Jeremy Irvine, are left fighting for their lives when, through a convoluted set of circumstances, the hot air balloon they're riding in is left soaring through the sky out of control.
The film is ultimately bogged down by a ropey script, so-so performances, and some truly shambolic green screen effects, so it's perhaps little surprise that Lionsgate quietly dumped this one on streaming late last year.
But to the right-minded individual, it offers up enough schlocky thrills that there's some so-bad-it's-good to be fun here - particularly the manner with which Kelsey Grammer's balloon pilot makes an abrupt exit from the story.
