And finally we have Dolly, which is based on Rod Blackhurst's own 2022 short film Babygirl and revolves around a young woman (Fabianne Therese) fighting to survive after being kidnapped by a monstrous figure (wrestler Max the Impaler) who plans to raise her as their child.

To say that Blackhurst commits to the grim particulars of that setup is no understatement, in a film that's perhaps best described as the unholy spawn of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Barbarian.

Though clearly produced for a pittance, Blackhurst nevertheless shot the entire movie on 16mm film, lending it a distinctly scuzzy aesthetic that recalls Tobe Hooper's genre-defining exploitation classic.

It's certainly not high-art and liable to appeal to just a certain subset of like-minded horror fans, but Dolly is nevertheless a memorably twisted indie-slasher that has the full courage of its cinematic convictions, seeing them through to the gnarly end.
