Overlord Review: 4 Ups & 4 Downs

2. It's Far Too Long

Overlord Wyatt Russell
Paramount Pictures

There's no way this movie needed to be 110 minutes long: it over-extends itself by a good 10-15 minutes and really feels it, especially in the early going.

Considering that the hour-plus wait for the advertised mayhem to kick in is a bit of a slog at times, some fat clearly should've been trimmed from that portion of the movie.

And even in the more exciting third act, the film drags on far longer than it needs to when the end appears to be in sight, dragging what should've been a tight piece of 90-minute B-movie nonsense dangerously close to two hours. Does anybody need that?
