Pacific Rim 3: 10 Things We Want To See

Raleigh can save the franchise.

Pacific Rim: Uprising released worldwide last week, and it's fair to say that even its fans will agree it doesn't quite live up to the inspired insanity of Guillermo del Toro's 2013 original.

The writing, direction, performances and treatment of legacy characters are all wildly questionable for the most part, and regardless of whether or not you enjoyed the movie as a brainless action romp, clearly something needs to change for the planned third film.

It remains to be seen whether or not Pacific Rim 3 will actually go ahead, with Uprising currently posting middle-of-the-road box office results which make it tough to ascertain a definitive answer. If it does happen, however, studio Legendary Pictures needs to take a Jaeger-sized step back, take the vocal fan criticism onboard and see how they can better service the highly entertaining original.

The unexpected franchise definitely isn't beyond saving, but if number three is truly going to course-correct things, some harsh lessons will need to be learned by those in charge. Here's everything that must (and mustn't) happen in Pacific Rim 3...
