Along with being one of Rudd's earliest screen roles, looking back at his portrayal of Josh in valley girl comedy Clueless, it's also clearly the moment the actor made a Faustian, Picture Of Dorian Grey-style pact which means he never aged. This film came out twenty years ago and he looks pretty much the same in it as he does now. What gives? Despite being such an early part, Rudd also exhibits all the goofy charm that he's become known for, a confidence not even seen in actors when they're just starting out. He's mostly a background character in Clueless, biding his time until his ex-stepsister Cher (Alicia Silverstone) realises she's totally in love with him. Even with such a small role, Rudd wrings the most comedy potential possible from his Social Justice Warrior law school student. He's witty, he's charming, he's sort of an irritating, holier-than-thou d*ck at times. Forget Cher, everybody who watches him in that film falls in love with him. No small feat when Turk from Scrubs is also on screen.
