PAUL teaser trailer debuts: Pegg, Frost, Rogen, Weaver, Bateman!

MSN Movies are the rather surprising source for the online exclusive debut of the trailer for 'Paul' the next cinematic buddy offering of geek-bait Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, this time sans co-writer/director Edgar Wright (who as you know made the giddy €˜Scott Pilgrim vs. The World€™). Instead their ménage-a-ha (geddit?) is completed by the CGI alien presence of Seth Rogen, voicing the titular Paul, here he seems locked into panic-mode though reports suggest he€™s more of a sweary character in the final film. Universal€™s teaser for the flick is light on actual jokes and heavy on lots of stuff happening quickly, hoping that the idea of our €˜Hot Fuzz€™ heroes hanging out with E.T is enough to whip up a fanboy frenzy. I would be excited, but Pegg can deliver a €˜Run Fat Boy Run€™ for every €˜Shaun of the Dead€™. We do have the dependable Greg Mottola (director of €˜Superbad€™, €˜Adventureland€™ and indie gem €˜The Daytrippers€™) behind the camera, so it€™s still a case of wait and see whether this is more €˜Mac and Me€™ than €˜Spaced€™ with aliens.

Owain Paciuszko hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
