Peacemaker: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Suicide Squad TV Series
1. John Cena Will Be Back As The "Douchey Captain America"
This isn't a major surprise, but it's common for TV shows like this to sometimes replace the lead with a younger actor or focus on a lesser known character from their world. The Batman spinoff series that's also in the works for HBO Max, for example, won't revolve around Jim Gordon or the Caped Crusader, but an unnamed police detective in the GCPD.
Thankfully, John Cena will be the lead in Peacemaker, and it definitely sounds like he's excited to reprise role and continue working with James Gunn.
"I have said before that it has been a tremendous honor and an incredible opportunity to be part of The Suicide Squad and to work with James on what is going to be a fantastic movie," the pro wrestler turned actor says. "I am unbelievably excited to have the chance to team up with him again for Peacemaker. We can’t wait for fans to see this."
As this feature has established, other characters have held the Peacemaker mantle, so Gunn and HBO Max could have very easily cast a lesser-known actor fill in to save money.
