Peanuts Movie: 4 Reasons It Could Be Good (And 5 It Could Be Terrible)
4. Old Fashioned Looking Animation
When it was initially announced a CGI animated Peanuts movie was in development, we all had our fears as to what it would look like: Rubbery looking characters virtually indistinguishable from any number of Dreamworks/Disney figures, losing the quaint style that we associate with Peanuts. However, those fears were assuaged in a small way by this recent teaser, as Charlie Brown and Snoopy are rendered in a crude but charmingly retro aesthetic, that preserves the charm of the modestly budgeted TV specials. Another plus in this category: character design. Despite the cutting-edge animation, the animators have wisely chosen to not change a single thing about the appearances of Charlie Brown or Snoopy - the rest of the cast of characters has yet to be seen, but if this teaser is any indication, we will be able to recognize the iconic comic characters without any trouble or undue outrage.
