4. Completely Unnecessary Remake Of A Classic

There are 2 reasons to remake a classic: 1.) The classic has key flaws that needed correcting, or 2.) The classic has been forgotten and must be reintroduced to a modern audience. The only major flaws in the Peanuts Specials were the occasional preachiness and low-budget animation, but both somehow manage to contribute to the charm and continued success of the shorts. The second point, while it seems more likely to be the actual jumping-off point, does not work for one major reason: TV syndication. The Peanuts TV specials have never become irrelevant because of their status as classics. Holiday television broadcasts rarely forget Charlie Brown and company, ensuring that Peanuts will have a cultural legacy even to those who do not grow up reading the comic strip.
