Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Review - 5 Ups & 5 Downs

4. Orlando Bloom & Keira Knightley Are Barely In It

Trailers heavily played-up the presence of Orlando Bloom in the film, and more recent trailers also made it clear that Keira Knightley would reprise her role, after the pair both decided to sit out 2011's On Stranger Tides.

Fans should temper their expectations, though: Bloom is in the film for less than five minutes and Knightley maybe two minutes at most. Their roles have little impact on the central narrative and they feel basically thrown into the mix purely for the sake of it, which while perhaps raising an easy smile from the hardcore fans, is still pretty disappointing.

This may signal Disney attempting to move the series away from these characters considering that their plots feel mostly played-out at this point, but maybe next time they should just sit it out completely and let the new cast have the movie to themselves. Jack can stay, though.
