Planet Hulk Film: Top 5 Candidates To Direct

2. Neill Blomkamp

When plans for an adaptation of the popular Halo video game franchise fell through, producer Peter Jackson gave Blomkamp a fraction of the budget and a choice to direct whatever he wanted. He decided to adapt his short film into a feature and with a $30 million budget made District 9. The 2009 science fiction epic would end up making over $200 million worldwide and gain four Oscar Nominations including Best Picture. The success of the film shocked most of the industry except for Jackson who knew that he saw something great in Blomkamp. Blomkamp created both an action packed visual thriller, but also a strong narrative that was based on his childhood living in South Africa during apartheid. Just like Jackson, Blomkamp has a knack for capturing epic sequences that are both entertaining and moving. Why Should He Be Involved? His next film Elysium starring Matt Damon is one of the most anticipated films of the year and will cement Blomkamp as one of the top modern sci-fi directors. After Elysium, Blomkamp hasn€™t announced what his next picture will be and there are currently no projects he is rumored to be apart of. Unless the Halo film finally gets off the ground, I suspect that Blomkamp will be searching for his next project and I believe the Hulk could be that said project. With the Hulk being shipped off into space and landing on a new planet, Blomkamp can get rid of the tired €œgovernment versus the Hulk€ plotline and create a new and interesting story on the planet Sakaar.
