Poppy Montgomery To Lead JK Rowling Biopic STRANGE MAGIC

JK Rowling, author of the exponentially popular Harry Potter series, is set to have her life story hit the small screen in an unauthorised, straight-to-TV movie according to The Telegraph. Titled Strange Magic, the film will tell the story of Rowling's rise from a single mum living on benefits, to her eventual accumulation of her overwhelmingly vast fortune. Rowling, whose net worth currently stands at around £800 million, famously thought up the concept for Harry Potter during a train journey from Manchester to London. The Potter brand, which includes the hit 'n' miss collection of movies, the truckloads of toys that accompany each films release, and the newly opened 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter' theme park in Universal, Orlando, is estimated to be worth £7billion. Not bad for a gal from the West Country. Upon revisiting her old Edinburgh flat with a TV crew recently, Rowling broke down in tears.
"I really became myself here. This is where I turned my life around. I'd made such a mess of things, so I just thought, "Well, I want to write' - and I wrote the book," she said.
The author will be played by Australian Poppy Montgomery, best known for her work on hit US TV show 'Without a Trace' as FBI agent Samantha Spade. Call me cynical, but I am quite surprised that the concept for a Rowling life story wasn't deemed worthy of a cinematic release. With the Potter cash cow less than six months away from being laid out to pasture, it's a wonder that Warner Bros. execs didn't jump at the chance to grasp its withering udders yet again.
